Iron Heart UHF shirts are a winter essential, renowned for their rugged construction, warmth and comfort. For many years, these ultra heavy flannels have been woven from Peruvian Aspero cotton. However, due to over-demand by the clothing industry as a whole, this slow-growing cotton has become much more scarce. So in the interests of sustainability, the past few seasons have seen us take steps to look into alternative cottons and weaves which could still deliver the quality and characteristics that we expect from an Iron Heart UHF. This started with last year’s addition of the ‘slubby heavy flannel’, and joining it for FW24 is our new 11oz ultra heavy flannel.
Despite this new weave technically being calculated as an ounce lighter than its Aspero cotton counterpart, in a hands-on comparison we’d say it actually feels slightly more substantial. As with all our UHFs, we single-brush the face and double-brush the reverse, resulting in the same incredibly soft, warm and windproof flannel we all know and love.
